Neck Disability Index (NDI)
NDI is a commonly used standardized assessment tool that can capture disability in patients with neck pain.
It contains total of 10 self-report items:
Each item is scored on a scale of 0-5. The total score is add up and presented as a percentage. Higher scores will represent greater disability.
Minimal Clinically Important Change (MCIC) have been estimated at 9.5 points (19%) for patients with mechanical neck disorders.
It contains total of 10 self-report items:
- 7 items are related to activities of daily living (personal care, lifting, reading, work, driving, sleeping, and recreation)
- 2 items are related to pain
- 1 item is related to concentration.

- 0-4 = NO DISABILITY
- 5-14 = MILD DISABILITY
- 15-24 = MODERATE DISABILITY
- 25-34 = SEVERE DISABILITY
- >35 = COMPLETE DISABILITY
