CERVICOGENIC HEADACHE
What is it?:
Referred pain in any part of the head that is caused by a musculoskeletal tissue that is innervated by one of or several of the cervical nerves (C1-C4). Cervicogenic headaches are often associated with chronic tension headaches. They also are commonly diagnosed after an acute whiplash injury, intervertebral disc disease, or progressive facet joint arthritis.
